Imparting Information Literacy Skills

Information literacy forms the basis for lifelong learning. The term information literacy, sometimes referred to as information competency, is generally defined as the ability to access, evaluate, organize, and use information from a variety of sources.
To impart information literacy skills, library has identified students' information literacy skill level by taking survey. Initially library has focused on second year hostel students. After analyzing, Library has arranged Guest Lecture Programme on imparting information literacy skills for the same set of students. Selvi. B.Vijayalakshmi, Librarian, Sankar Polytechnic College (Autonomous) has given detailed projector demonstration with internet. 
After this programme another survey has been taken to evaluate the programme as well as students' understanding.

  

Librarian Day

Librarian Day has been celebrated on August 12, 2016.  Yatiswari Saravanabhavapriya Amba, Secretary,  Dr.Smt.M.Malarvizhi Mam, Principal, Prof (Major) P.Chandrasekaran Sir, Academic Director have presided over the function. Smt.S.Gomathy, Librarian has given speech about the Library and Librarian day. Former S.P Mr.A.Kaliyamoorthy Sir's speech on reading habit has been telecasted. Skit has been played by the II year students. Library Student Secretaries and Student Joint Secretaries were organised the programme well.
